You may download Java support software FREE from http://www.java.com. What is Salvation? What is Gods simple plan of salvation? First of all, it is so simple that even a child can understand it. Many people make it complicated, or try to add things to it. Some believe that they first must clean up their act before they will accept Gods gift of salvation. They believe they first must try giving up sinful habits before they can give their life to Christ. The truth is they can’t, they may for a while, but eventually they will slip back into the old habits all over again. God does not require a person to turn over a new leaf to become saved. So what does He require for salvation? That is what I will take a few minutes to explain to you, but first what is salvation. Salvation is the saving of a person from sin or from the punishment of sin, especially in the afterlife. I like to simply explain it as, the reconciliation of man to God. So What does God require for salvation? God wants you to agree with Him that you are a sinner. Romans 3:23 states “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Who has come short? All have come short. What about the moral person who works hard, is a good neighbor, doesn’t steal or cheat on their spouse, and is a truthful person? Yes! According to the Word of God, that person has come short of the glory of God, and is in need of salvation. Romans 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for all have sinned:” God wants you to know that there is a punishment or penalty for sin, which is death, not just physical death, but a total separation from God for all eternity. The punishment for sin is eternity in hell. Revelation 20:12-15 “And I saw the dead, small and great stand before God: and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it: and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. God wants you to know that there is hope. Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” God wants you to know that His son Jesus Christ died (death Gods requirement for sin) for your sins and took your punishment on the cross, so you wouldn’t have to pay Gods requirement for your sin. God wants you to know that there is only one way you can be saved.That is by accepting Jesus Christ as your personal saviour. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Right now, you can take out the word whosoever and replace it with the words if and your name, now read the verse again. Isn’t that amazing! Jesus Christ had to shed his blood on the cross to save you from your sins. Hebrews 9.22 “.....without the shedding of blood there is no remission.” I Peter 3.18 “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God.”God now commandeth all men everywhere to repent” Acts 17:30 This repentance is a change of mind that agrees with God that you are a sinner. You may be saying: What must I do to be saved? #1 Agree with God that you are a sinner #2 Repent of your sins #3 Believe on Him as the one who bore your sin, died in your place, was buried, and whom God resurrected on the third day. “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name. John 1:12 Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. #4 Just pray: Dear God I know that I am a sinner. I believe Jesus took my place when He died on the cross and took my penalty for my sin. I believe his death, burial, and resurrection, were for me. I ask you Lord Jesus to come into my heart and I accept you as my Saviour. Amen #5 Tell someone what has happened to you. Romans 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
